Caribbean Golf Association Four-Ball Championship wraps up in Providenciales
For a week in October, the Royal Turks & Caicos Golf Club welcomed golfers from across the Caribbean for the 2026 Caribbean Golf Association Four-Ball Championship.
Held in Providenciales from October 6 to 10, the championship brought together 78 players representing the Bahamas, Barbados, the Cayman Islands, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, St Lucia, Trinidad & Tobago and the Turks & Caicos Islands. The format paired players in two-person teams across four men’s divisions and two women’s divisions, with the Ambrose Gouthro Cup awarded to the country achieving the strongest overall result.
The visiting teams were welcomed at the Club on October 7 by Fraser Dods, President of the TCI Golf Association. Caribbean Golf Association President Sydney Wolf, from Puerto Rico, also addressed the players. With the welcome and practice round complete, the competitors were ready for the challenge ahead.
The Club’s narrow fairways and the prevailing trade winds called for careful course management throughout the competition. The pin positions added another test for the players, who faced a course prepared for the championship by Superintendent Tim Mack and the greenkeeping team. Caribbean Golf Association Tournament Director Trenton Weekes oversaw the course marking, tournament reporting and officiating.
The championship concluded with a banquet and awards ceremony at Club Med Turquoise. The Bahamas claimed the Ambrose Gouthro Cup as overall country champion. Jamaica placed second, Trinidad & Tobago third and the Turks & Caicos Islands fourth.
