2023 Round Up

First of all, a big round of applause to all of you, our fantastic patrons, because without your unwavering support, our teams wouldn’t have had the pleasure of delivering the “exceptional service” we pride ourselves on. We’re truly thankful for your love for golf and for choosing to play with us. Now, let’s take a stroll down memory lane and check out some of our 2023 highlights!

🏆 We teed off the year by proudly snagging the title of the #1 Golf Course in the Caribbean, courtesy of USAToday’s Top Ten! It was a historic first.

🎙️ The legendary David Feherty joined us as our Ambassador for the 8th consecutive year. Yes, you read that right, 8 years! We must be doing something right to keep his passion for our club alive and kicking.

⛳ We had a record-breaking number of golfers visit us – a whopping 5246 UNIQUE players graced our course last year. Talk about making history on the green!

🌟 We welcomed Ashley Gravett as our first female golf pro, and boy, has she been a game-changer! Ashley has taught tons of new lady golfers who joined her clinic and this momentum is set to continue through 2024.

⛳ And let’s not forget, our International Women’s event held in May of this year was a total sell-out! It was an incredible celebration of women in golf, and we’re thrilled that it resonated with so many golf enthusiasts.

💰 Thanks to our wonderful local community, we raised over $200,000 for local charities this year – an absolutely momentous achievement that warms our hearts.

🍽️ We upgraded our restaurant software, making things smoother than a well-struck golf swing. Keep an eye out for our “beta” phase online Pro-Shop Experience – we’re taking convenience to the next level!

👕 RTCGC™ branded wear has become a reality, and we’re convinced these fantastic new items will soon conquer the world – one stylish golfer at a time! Fun fact …. We have sold over 4300 hats this year.

🌞 We’re on the path to becoming almost carbon neutral, thanks to our solar power installation over the cart barn. Launched in June 2023, it’s now in full swing, and we’re well on our way to being eco-friendly champions!

🛠️ Our Maintenance department made significant strides in our green initiatives with the acquisition of an electric greens mower and a couple of electric carts for our staff.

💧 Over 15,000 bottles have been saved thanks to our convenient filter water stations, contributing to our sustainability efforts.

🍻 Our partnership with Turks Head Brewery to develop our signature “Hole in One” Beer has been nothing short of a hit, adding a refreshing twist to the golfing experience.

⛳ Furthermore, we implemented Golf Genius, a fantastic addition that took our Tournaments and Summer League to the next level. With live scoring, online registration, and more, it injected an extra dose of excitement into our events, making them even more memorable for everyone involved.

2023, you’ve been a hole-in-one year for us, and we can’t wait to see what exciting adventures lie ahead on the fairways in 2024. Cheers to golf, community, and a greener future! 🏌️‍♂️🌍🎉

National Cancer Golf Scramble

The National Cancer Scramble, held on Sunday, May 7, proved to be a tremendous success as 92 golfers gathered on the pristine greens of Royal Turks and Caicos Golf Club to raise funds for the Turks and Caicos Cancer Society. The event brought together golf enthusiasts from across the region, combining a passion for the sport with a commitment to fighting cancer. With 23 teams participating and generous sponsorship, over $20,000 was raised, showcasing the power of community support in making a difference.

The tournament featured an impressive display of skill and determination, with each golfer contributing to the cause. The team comprising Graham Canham, Murad Mohamad, Syed Hassan, and Vaughan Paisley emerged as the champions, posting a remarkable net score of 54.88. Their achievement symbolizes both the spirit of competition and the shared goal of supporting those affected by cancer.

Additionally, the National Cancer Scramble was not only a fundraising success but also a fun-filled tournament that kept participants engaged and entertained throughout the day. The event organizers incorporated unique and exciting rules on various holes, adding an element of unpredictability to the competition.  For example the 3rd where participants were limited to using only a single golf club throughout the entire play. It sparked laughter, camaraderie, and friendly banter among the teams as they strategized and made the best of their limited options.

In addition to the competitive aspect, the event highlighted outstanding individual performances. Kurt Rivers stood out with an extraordinary drive, winning the title of the longest drive among the male participants. Michelle Patterson, hit the longest drive among the female participant, and Owen Barkworth displayed exceptional talent, clinching the title of the longest drive among the junior participants.

Beyond the on-course achievements, the success of the National Cancer Scramble can be attributed to the overwhelming support of sponsors who generously contributed to the event. Their support demonstrates a shared commitment to combatting cancer and providing vital resources for the Turks and Caicos Cancer Society.

The funds raised through this event will be instrumental in supporting the Turks and Caicos Cancer Society’s ongoing efforts to improve cancer awareness, provide vital services to those affected by the disease, and contribute to advancements in cancer research. The impact of this generous contribution will be felt throughout the community, ensuring that individuals battling cancer receive the care and support they need.

This year’s event was hugely successful thanks to our generous sponsors and all those who participated by playing or bidding on the silent auction prizes as we look to enhance our promotion of golf by forming a structured junior development program. More on that program in the coming months.
